ASSAULT: Court adjourns Seun Kuti’s trial till Wednesday May 24

The trial of Seun Kuti, the scion of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was stalled at the Yaba Magistrate court in Lagos state on Tuesday, May 23, due to the absence of Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun.

The trial of the musician has now been adjourned till Wednesday, May 24, 2023 following the absence of Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun who has been presiding over the case.

The Punch reports, quoting a source who pleaded anonymity, that case will commence tomorrow.

“The trial has been adjourned till tomorrow, May 24, 2023, because the judge is not around”, the source said.

Seun Kuti was arrested after the musician was caught on camera slapping and pushing a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge while his wife tried to calm him down from inflicting any harm on the officer.

The musician in a post he shared after the video went viral, claimed the officer wanted to kill him and his family members and also added that the police officer has apologised and that he will not be pressing charges.

Following his assault on the police officer, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer.
