New twist as Baba Ijesha claims Ogunlana is not his legal representative

The alleged child molestation case involving troubled Yoruba actor Olanrewaju James Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha has taken another dimension after the thespian stated that Mr Adeshina Ogunlana, a former Chairman of Ikeja Branch of Nigerian Bar Association, is not his counsel.

Recall that Ogunlana in a letter addressed to the Lagos police commissioner last week said that investigation has been concluded on matter and it is inconceivable that the issuance of legal advice will now be a basis for the denial of bail as you have been widely reported in the press to have claimed.

He thus demanded that his client should be released on bail and that his client’s colleague, Yomi Fabiyi is ready to stand surety for him.

However, Baba Ijesha has in a copy of disclaimer made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos, said that he never briefed Ogunlana to be his legal representative.

“I wish to state categorically and emphatically that I have never briefed the lawyer nor instructed him to act on my behalf in any way, or manner howsoever and whatsoever.

“He (Ogunlana) is not my lawyer, and whatever you heard or hear from him concerning my lawyers, the police or court case, does not represent the true position.

“He has been acting without my knowledge or consent,” he said.
