Our Duke has gone mad again… Edgar ponders on the possible emergence of the Republic of ‘Bulla Ballu’

Opinion article by Duke of Shomolu, Joseph Edgar

I have just come out of a robust breakfast session with a very strategic and super influential Nigerian.

He says that if the elections where to be held today and Nigeria was from the middle belt down south minus the North, Peter Obi will be our next President.

He should know because he has played politics at the highest level and is on a first name basis with everyone that matters on all sides of the political divide.

He says Obi has not been able to crack the North and this would be the decider as always.

He didn’t say but from his body language and other things he said that I will never say, it’s looking like we may be welcoming the Republic of Balla Balu come May.

It’s no wonder that Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s confidence level as could be seen in Abeokuta yesterday is at its all time high.

He declared that, ‘‘they can seize fuel, seize Naira, try to stop the elections I will still win.

He must have seen the permutations about his seeming inevitable emergence.

Obi despite his huge followership among the urban youths and millions of disenfranchised Nigerians may have finally succumbed to the dearth of structure in his push.

The other two leverage on structure of their parties to make inroads to the core North which have the population and the lack of sophistication to better understand the message of Obedients.

Sad for Nigeria this situation if it indeed comes true. We had hoped that the Obi movement would have carried him into the Presidency thereby giving us a chance to at least attempt a clean up of the Aegean stables.

Sad that once again, the politics of avarice, corruption and malice would once again thrive.

Sad that a personality that doesn’t represent the true spirit of Nigerians- our resilience, our penchant for integrity, our love for pedigree and our hunger for education will emerge again.

What kind of role models will we be throwing up for our children and upcoming generations if these permutations come true.

We can’t lose hope though. We must hope for the Daman miracle where our gallant boys came back from a 4 goal deficit to snatch victory against the USSR.

Whichever God made that possible he should come down and steer away this meteoroid that is hurtling towards us because failure to divert its trajectory will resort to a massive slamming that we may not recover from.

Obi could still emerge if he immediately starts working with Kwakwanso and Kola .They have to come together and wrestle the North Central and split North East so that we may have a fighting chance.

Kai, I remain sad and must say the discussion I just came out from has made me loss appetite.

Thanks
