Talented Kannywood actress Rahama Sadau has stated that lack of funds is one of the setbacks affecting the Nigerian film industry fondly dubbed Nollywood.
The thespian who made the comments on the sidelines of the premiere of a movie titled ‘The Plan’ in Abuja said that there are a lot of talents, a lot of creatives, yet there is little or no funding.
Rahama Sadau who called on the government to inject more funds into the film industry said that almost 90% of filmmakers bring in their money to produce films.
“Hugely, lack of funding has been a major setback for the entire industry. We have a lot of talents. We have a lot of creatives, yet we have no or little funding.
“We have almost 90% of filmmakers who bring in their money to produce films. So, what I will always plead is for government involvement.
“We have seen Avatar, Wakanda. It is not just one person that made the movie, there are a lot of producers.
“The government should look into the creative industry so that we can be a greater industry,” she said.
