Popular Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson has stated that she hopes her lawsuit against Disney Studio over breach of contract makes a positive impact on the movie industry dubbed Hollywood.

Recall that the actress and Disney Studio agreed to end the breach of contract case over her 2021 Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow” after her attorney claimed in the suit that the studio’s decision to launch her first, and last, Marvel standalone film on Disney+ as well as cinemas is a breach of contract.

Last month, Johansson and Disney settled her compensation claim and she has now told The Hollywood Reporter that she hopes it will encourage better treatment of other artists.

She said: “It was a very surreal time because, of course, the film had come out and was hugely successful and that was a big celebration. I had a baby and that was obviously a life-changing, amazing, celebratory thing.

“In a way, that sort of buoyed me through the very uncertain, stressful time. I feel mostly very fortunate that nobody will have to go through what I went through and that it’s made, I think, a positive impact in the industry and hopefully for artists and creatives’ lives and livelihood.”

She added: “It’s an evolving time where there’s this huge sea change happening, and as my daughter told me the other day, you can’t make an omelette without breaking some eggs.”

In a statement after she settled with Disney, Johansson said: “I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.”
