Rita Dominic highlights how she was “vigorously discussed” on social media for being unmarried

Popular Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has highlighted how he was at a certain time “vigorously discussed” as a topic on social media for being unmarried.

Rita Dominic, who shared her experience while speaking at the recent Women of Valour International Women’s Day event in Accra, Ghana, said that she was surprised at the development.

She talked about how she handled criticism and demands about her decision to hold off on getting married until she found someone she “cared enough to marry.”

“My story about finding love and ultimately marrying a man I love at an age that most Africans consider old was vigorously discussed, to my amusement, on social media pages,” she said.

The actress, who has acted in scores of films, also brought attention to the fact that she was frequently asked questions and felt under pressure from those who pointed out her advanced age.

“On one hand, it was heartening to witness the overwhelming support, love, and excitement from women across Africa, and it was beautiful. And even as we celebrated, glimpses of resistance emerged from certain quarters, notably from self-appointed gatekeepers of African culture,” she said.
