Popular American hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons has been sued for alleged rape and s3xual assault by a former Def Jam music executive simply identified as Jane Doe.

The victim, who previously “worked as a senior-level music executive at Def Jam Recordings,” made the allegations in a new lawsuit filed in New York Federal Court on Tuesday.

Jane Doe is accusing the hip-hop heavyweight (who co-founded Def Jam) of “derailing” her career after raping her in the 1990s, according to a new lawsuit.

While she claims that she and Russell initially had a professional relationship and he “was not flirtatious with her at all,” she said that it was common to bring music videos to Simmons’ New York City apartment, which she did “with no incident.”

However, the plaintiff alleges that “Simmons suddenly began to turn his rapacious attention toward Ms. Doe,” which reportedly included “invading her personal space while making sexual innuendos, suggestions, and advances, and rubbing the front of his pants.”

According to the court filing, “Ms. Doe’s career in the music industry was disrupted and derailed by a devastating experience at the hands of Mr. Simmons.” It also states that she and Simmons had a professional working relationship at first, before he later “revealed his true colours” and “disabled Ms. Doe’s career at Def Jam, a job she loved, at the height of her success and financial viability” through his “assaultive behavior.”
