Tems explains why she cries when she records some of her songs

Talented Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known in music circles as Tems, has explained why she cries whenever she records some of her songs.

The ‘Damages’ crooner, who made the disclosure in a recent interview with Billboard, said that she sheds tears sometimes when recording because some of the tracks are very personal to her.

“I cried while making some of my songs because they’re very personal to me,” she told Billboard.

Tems also revealed during the interview that the likes of Sade Adu, Frank Ocean, and Asa inspired her to become the musician that she is today.

She said, “What inspires me most is the season that I am in in life, coupled with music that I’ve heard, people that I love—Frank Ocean, Asa, Sade—those are the people that inspired me, and helped me in my creative process.”
