Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has kicked against moves to release alleged rapist, Baba Ijesha after he was arrested and detained for purportedly defiling a 14-year-old girl since she was 7 years of age.
Recall that a senior officer while giving an update on the case, said that the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed to PUNCH Metro that a directive has been issued to release him from police custody within the next 24 hours.
According to PUNCH, this is due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, which has made it impossible for the courts to sit, and the suspect could not be detained indefinitely without trial.
While reacting to the development in a video on her Instagram page, Iyabo Ojo said efforts to release the actor will be resisted vowing to rearrest the actor if he is eventually freed from detention.
”This live video is for the people in charge of this case. We are going to say no to molestation and yes I stand to use one of my own as a scape goat. If they release Baba Ijesha, we are going to rearrest him and this will no longer be a state thing, it will now become Federal,” she said in the video.
