Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens popularly known in music circles as Ruggedman is of the opinion that a lot of talentless people are hiding under the banner of Afrobeats.
The veteran lyricist who made the remarks during a candid interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo said that the name “Afrobeats” refers to those who lack talent.

He said; “When you ask me what Afrobeats is, I would say Afrobeats is what a lot of talentless people hide behind.
“They said, ‘Afrobeats to the world.’ I said, ‘No. It’s some artists from around the world.’ It’s not the Afrobeats [genre], it’s some artists.” Ruggedman added during the interview.
