AKWA IBOM: Three policemen shot, killed by gunmen during patrol

The death of no fewer than three policemen who were shot and killed while on patrol by armed hoodlums in Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday March 31, has been confirmed.

The incident was confirmed on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Odiko MacDon who revealed that Ben Ajide, a chief superintendent of police (CSP) and commander of the quick intervention unit of the police command in Akwa Ibom was among the officers killed in the attack launched by the hoodlums.

MacDon, who revealed that much in a statement, said four other officers are still missing.

 

The statement read thus in full; “The Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew, is deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack on security personnel who were out maintaining the peace yesterday, 30th March, 2021 which led to the demise of CSP Ben Ajide who was the Commander of the Command’s Quick Intervention Unit and two others, while four others are missing.

“Whereas the remote and immediate causes of these unprovoked attacks are unknown, a discreet investigation is on the way to unravel the same and seek a lasting solution.” he added.
