American rapper Drake demands withdrawal of his 2022 Grammy Award nominations

Popular rapper and singer, Drake has decided to withdraw his 2022 Grammy nominations.

According to reports, Drake and his management team asked the Recording Academy to remove him from the final round ballot for the 64th annual Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy has nominated Drake 47 times over the years. Drake has won the Grammy 4 times, all of which were in the rap genre category.

The Toronto superstar was nominated for two awards at next year’s ceremony which takes place at January 31st– Best Rap Album for his latest LP ‘Certified Lover Boy’ and Best Rap Performance for his hit single ‘Way Too Sexy’ (with Future and Young Thug)

Although Drake and his management are yet to reveal the reason behind this decision, many reports link it to Drake’s speech at the 2019 award show. The Canadian rapper implied that winning the award wasn’t the true tell tale of success within music.
