Blessing Okagbare accepts 10-year doping ban after failing to appeal upon enquiry

Popular Nigerian sprinster, Blessing Okagbare has accepted the ten year ban imposed on her by the slammed on her by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) Disciplinary Tribunal.

Okagbare, 33, was hit with the ban by the AIU after the presence and use of various illegal substances were discovered in her system during routines tests.

The former Nigerian track and field athlete who specialized in Long jump and sprints has now accepted the ruling after the former Commonwealth Games double sprint champion did not file any appeal upon enquiry.

CAS has now confirmed that Okagbare did not file any appeal upon enquiry.

”Please be advised that at the time of writing, no appeals have been filed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in relation to this matter,” CAS Communications Officer, Katy Hogg, said.

Okagbare had initially denied taking prohibited substances by injection or in any other form.
