Former coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Bonfrere Jo has submitted his application before the Nigerian Football Association (NFA) as he seeks to replace under-fire coach of the senior national team, Gernot Rohr.

The application filed by the Dutch coach who famously led the U-23 Nigeria men’s team to win the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics was made known when a note reportedly written by the Dutch applying for the Eagles job, surfaced last week.

Former Super Eagles Media Officer, Colin Udoh, also confirmed that Bonfrere had sent in his application.

“Nigeria’s 1996 Olympic gold-winning coach Jo Bonfrere has formally put in his paperwork to apply for the Nigeria job.

“The Nigeria Football Federation is currently in the process of paying off current coach Gernot Rohr to terminate his contract while interviewing candidates for the job #SuperEaglesInsider,” Udoh wrote on Twitter.

In a similar vein, former Real Madrid assistant manager Alejandro Menéndez Garcia has joined the list of coaches pushing to replace Gernot Rohr.

Reports say Garcia has already submitted his CV to the NFF with his representative confident that he stands a chance as he has what it takes to make the Super Eagles play the kind of football Nigerians are craving for.
