Former President of the Performing Musicians’ Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has explained why he apologized to his lesbian daughter Dewy after she accused him of neglect.
Recall that Dewy once took a swipe at her father over his lengthy post on social media about her sexuality.
Charly Boy had revealed that it took him several months to come to terms with the knowledge that his daughter is a lesbian.
“I am close with my children and I love them to bits. They are my friends. But I wasn’t really ready for the ‘breaking news’ my Princess Dewy had for me. When my child told me she is gay, a lesbian, I experienced a range of emotions, during that phone conversation,” he wrote.
However, Dewy who was not comfortable with her father’s expose, took to her Twitter account to berate her father.

She described him as a hypocrite who used her sexuality to chase clout, attention, and praise from strangers just to feed his ego.
However, the eccentric entertainer who opened up in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST said that he apologized to his daughter because he realized he was encroaching into her private life.
“I apologized because I had same clash with my father who was trying to doctor my life. I resisted and said no, I will tell my own story.
”I did not realize I was encroaching. Even though initially when I heard, like any other parent, I was concerned but then I cannot be hypocritical because I have fought for LGBT right and some many rights. So because of my daughter, I can’t change.
“When I realized that, I apologized to her because we are friends. It is not a father-daughter relationship, we are buddy and that is the special bond I share with all my children,” he added.
