The 40-year-old player who was arrested in January 2023 and now facing trial for allegedly s3xually assaulting a lady last year has been given a trial date this Autumn.

According to a further report from El Periodico, the exact timings are yet to be officially confirmed and if convicted, Alves could face a sentence ranging from six to 12 years, with the Law on the Guarantee of S3xual Freedom having come into effect last October.

This comes after the footballer was denied bail again after a review of footage presented by the defense showing him allegedly flirting with the accuser.

After reviewing the footage, a Spanish court decided on Monday that Alves will remain in jail, however, the court dismissed the evidence, stating that flirting should not “in any way justify an eventual s3xual assault.

The player whose contract with Mexican club Pumas UNAM was terminated as a result of the accusation and was jailed without bail still remains in custody and has apparently been labelled a flight risk.
