Days after revealing release date of new album, Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’ is certified Gold in US

These are certainly exciting times for self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ and Grammy Award winner, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy as his chart topping single titled ‘Ye’ has been certified Gold in the United States of America.

The cheering news was revealed on Wednesday by Burna Boy’s mother and manager, Mrs Bose Ogulu on her IG handle @thenamix ast the song  ‘Ye’ becomes the fastest Nigerian song to be certified ‘Gold’ by RIAA.

The RIAA awards certification in the US is based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets.

 

NAN reports that “Ye” was released on August 6, 2018, as the sixth single from his third studio album “Outside.”

The song was produced by Nigerian record producer Phantom.

The track peaked at number 26 and 31 on Billboard’s BillboardMainstream R&B/Hip-Hop and R&B/Hip-hop Airplay charts, respectively.

This came days after Burna Boy revealed that the follow-up album to his Grammy Award winning collection titled “Twice As Tall” will be released in 2021.

Burna Boy who has also been nominated for the BRITS award made the revelation on April 30, 2021, during a conversation with British DJ and host, Zane Lowe on Apple Music Radio.

He said, “I’m definitely planning to drop my next album this year. Especially, at the same time I dropped the last one. I’m trying to do that as long as I can.”
