DELTA: Police arrests four cultists in connection with multiple murders

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of no fewer than four suspected cultists at Asem-Uku community in the Ndokwa East LGA in connection with multiple murders.

The arrest of the suspects was confirmed by the acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe who informed that police operatives nabbed one Okwudili Obi and three others for multiple murders.

In a statement, DSP Edafe said that the leader of the gang, Obi, had been on the wanted list of the command.

DSP Edafe said, “On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, police operatives attached to the Delta State Intelligence Bureau, after a series of intelligence gathering, with the assistance of the command’s tactical teams, stormed the Asem-Uku community in the Ndokwa East LGA and successfully arrested one Okwudili Obi and three others.

“Okwudili is the notorious principal suspect in a case of multiple murders and arson that led to the destruction of many houses in the community.

“The suspect, Okwudili Obi, happens to be one of the principal suspects involved in the murder of one Sunday Nwachukwu and Fidelis Amani, who were allegedly murdered sometime in the year 2017 in the Asemo-Uku community.

“He and his cohorts have been on the wanted list of the command. Exhibits recovered from him include three cutlasses, six daggers, one long sword, charms wrapped with red/white blood stained clothes,” the acting PPRO said.

He added that the case was still under investigation with a view to arresting Obi’s accomplices, who are currently at large.
