Nigerian street hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has begged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) not to arrest him for abusing the naira.

The controversial singer, who admitted that he is a frequent offender, said in a video shared on social media that he appealed to the EFCC to forgive him for spraying money on his fans.

Late on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Portable used Instagram Live to persuade his followers, whom he typically tosses large amounts of cash at during performances or while walking the streets, to create bank accounts to avoid abusing the naira.

The energetic ‘Zazu’ crooner promised that going forward, he would only send money to the bank accounts of his fans in order to avoid breaching any laws.

“I didn’t deface the Naira. I help a lot of people. After God na government, please forgive me if you have videos of me spraying money, no more spraying of money.

‘‘My fans, if I no longer spray money, after God na government, no more spraying of money. If it’s about money, open bank accounts, and let’s make transfers,” he said.
