NFF reportedly lines up Portugese coach Jose Peseiro to replace Gernot Rohr

Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has reportedly been lined up as new coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the start of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will reportedly unveil Portuguese tactician as the new Super Eagles coach anytime next week, Street Journal reports.

Peseiro who recently resigned from his role as coach of Venezuela is expected in Nigeria next week alongside Roma coach Jose Mourinho who recommended him to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The new coach won’t be in charge of the Super Eagles for the Africa Cup of Nations but he will be in Cameroon to observe and work with the team from a distance before taking over for the World Cup qualifiers play off.

Nigeria fired Franco-German coach Gernot Rohr last week and technical director Augustine Eguavoen will take over as temporary manager until a new coach is named.
