Nigeria’s national men’s basketball team nicknamed D’Tigers, beat the male basketball Argentina 94-71 on Monday evening, July 12, less than twenty four hours after beating the USA basketball team.

D’Tigers beat the USA in the early hours of Sunday, July 11, 2021, in an exhibition game ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games and then, in continuation of their preparation for the Olympics, Nigeria also beat Argentina 94-71 on Monday evening, July 12, at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

And moments after, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has dedicated D’Tigers victories over Team USA and Argentina to the memories of the late Dare Fasasi aka Sound Sultan.

The late musician, who passed on to the great beyond after a long batte with throat cancer, was a well known basketball fan, helped develop the game in Festac area of Lagos.

Following the Nigerian basketball team’s comfortable win over Argentina on Tuesday, the fourth-best team in the world, the NBBF took to its verified Twitter page to dedicate the two massive wins to the late singer.

“We dedicate the victories against the US & Argentina to the late Olanrewaju Fasasi (Sound Sultan). You saw this day coming when Nigeria would become a dominant force in global basketball. Ironically, the day we won against Team USA was when you gave up the ghost. RIP,” the tweet read.
