The federal government of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a congratulatory message to self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy for winning a Grammy award on Sunday 14, 2021.

The message was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Segun Adeyemi, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

It said that the award won by Burna Boy represents a global endorsement for the Afrobeat genre of music that has propelled Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world.

In a statement, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as fitting rewards for the persistent hard work of the duo of Wizkid and Burna Boy who clinched his first Grammy Award after winning the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category for ‘Twice As Tall‘, his 2020 project.
