Innovative Nollywood producer Charles Okpaleke has continued to push the boundaries in the film industry after he recently unveiled a streaming platform for stage plays.
Touted as the first of its kind Nigerian video on demand platform with a focus on African productions, the platform is known as Stageplay Africa is a video on demand platform strictly for theatrical plays.
Okpaleke shared the development via an Instagram post on his official account on the video and picture sharing social media platform.
He wrote: “Our Video on Demand (VoD) and streaming network for theatrical plays and other stage performances focusing on African productions worldwide is here.”
This came days after Okpaleke and Nollywood actor, Ramsey Nouah both secured the exclusive rights to produce a biopic based on the life of King Jaja of Opobo kingdom.
The development was announced on social media by Okpaleke who revealed that the biopic will take on an authentic perspective of the slave boy who rose to become one of the most revered monarchs in history.
According to him, the new biopic will take on an authentic perspective of the famed king who founded the Opobo kingdom.
and @ramseynouah are proud to announce that we have acquired the rights to tell the famed story of King Jaja from an authentic perspective, having the privilege of sitting with King Dandeson Douglas, Jeki V (5th on the throne) during the sesquicentennial celebration of Opobo Kingdom.
“We can say we have the authentic account of the eventful life of King Jaja and we are set to tell it in a gripping way as you all have come to expect from us”, Okpaleke wrote.
