One suspect arrested in Akwa Ibom after gunmen kill policeman during attack on station

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect after a police officer was killed in the early hours of Sunday June 13, during an attack by gunmen which took place in a divisional police station in Odoro Ikpe, Ini Local Government Area of the state.

The incident was confirmed in a statement on Monday by the police spokesperson, Odiko MacDon who told newsmen that one of the gunmen has been arrested and identified as Imoh Udo, 28, from Ikot Edem village in Essien Udim Local Government Area of the state.

McDon also added that and operational vehicle and three motorcycles were also recovered from the gunmen.

He said; “As I speak, men of the Operation Restore Peace are still combing the bush as the hoodlums possibly escaped with bullet wounds sustained in a gun duel during the attack.

“The Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme has already ordered discreet investigations. In no distant time, more of the perpetrators will be arrested,” McDon noted.
