Prince Philip husband to Queen Elizabeth ll’s dies at age 99

The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II’s and the longest serving consort has joined his ancestors.

The death of the 99-year-old was announced on Friday by Buckingham palace which revealed that Prince Philip passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

The Buckingham palace said in a statement: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
He was married to Queen Elizabeth for 70-years and was last seen in public on March 16 as he left the private King Edward VII hospital, where he had been recuperating following heart surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, a leading cardiac unit.
