Social media giants Twitter has revealed why the leaked chats posted on the platform by Nigeria’s Minister, Festus Keyamo, where he revealed chats he had with veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, have been deleted.

In a statement moments after it deleted the leaked chats, Twitter said the tweets, which also contained Abdulkareem’s phone number, were deleted simply because the minister ‘violated the rules’ of the site.

The social media giant also took down two other tweets from Festus Keyamo’s thread because he shared a leaked chat that showed Eedris Abdulkareem’s telephone number.

Twitter wrote thus in a brief post, “This tweet violated the Twitter Rules.” However, the social media company did not explicitly state which of its rules was violated by Festus Keyamo.

Recall that Festus Kenyamo called out the ‘Jaga Jaga’ crooner and former Remedies band member over his alleged blackmail and fraudulent activities.

Keyamo who scribbled a long thread on his official Twitter handle on Saturday, April 24, sharing screenshots of text messages between him and the musician, revealed that Eedris who now condemns President Muhammed Buhari wanted to join the president’s campaign train 2018.

According to Keyamo who said that he was the director of strategic communications for the campaign in 2018, the musician released a song to support the president’s second term and asked to listen to it.

Keyamo said that he told Eedris there was no financial budget to bring him, adding that his job as a coordinator was on a voluntary basis.

Festus went ahead to say that he begged him that he needed N3 million to pay for his hotel and that his mother was sick too.

The minister said after finding out that the musician had told people different stories with the aim of getting money from them, he stopped seeing him.
