SA police on the hunt for suspects who gunned down rapper AKA and his friend

The police in South Africa are now on the hunt for the suspects who gunned down one of the country’s hottest rap artistes, Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA.

The 35-year-old who has won multiple South African awards was gunned down on Friday night in the city of Durban alongside another man while they were walking towards their car from a restaurant.

“They were allegedly approached by two armed suspects who walked to them from across the street and shot the victims at close range,” police said in a statement.

According to Durban city mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, the motive of shooting AKA who was booked to perform at a club Friday night, is unknown, and police are investigating.

“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son,” his parents Tony and Lynn Forbes said in a statement posted on AKA’s Twitter account. “Our son was loved, and he gave love in return.”
