The Recording Academy has removed Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff and Anna Clark also called St. Vincent as nominees for Grammy Album of the year for their roles as songwriters on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour”.

The former nominees were credited as songwriters on Rodrigo’s song ‘Deja vu’ when it was discovered it had similarities to Swift’s tune ‘Cruel Summer’, off her album Lover. As per the nomination policy, songwriters whose old works were interpolated into the new song should not be nominated.

In a statement on Sunday, the Recording Academy disclosed the nomination as a songwriting submission error.

“During the submission process, the Academy received credits from the label for the track ‘deja vu.’ Last week, we received the correct credits from the label that recognize Annie Clark, Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift as songwriters of an interpolation on the track, ‘deja vu,’”

“In keeping with current Grammy guidelines, as songwriters of an interpolated track, Clark, Antonoff and Swift are not nominees in the album of the year category for Sour. Antonoff and Swift are nominated in the category for Swift’s album, evermore.”

Subsequently, the nomination list has also been corrected and updated.

Taylor Swift’s album ‘Evermore’ has also been nominated for the Album of the year award however, reports state that her chances are slimmer. Antonoff remains a nominee for non-classical producer of the year and St. Vincent remains a nominee for best alternative music album for ‘Daddy’s Home’.
