Hollywood actors Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett both shared heartbreaking messages following the death of iconic rapper Biz Markie, 57, best known for his classic rap song ‘Just a Friend’.

The death of the rapper was made known by Markie’s representative, Jenni Izumi, who said that the New York rapper, beatboxer, and producer died peacefully Friday evening, July 16, with his wife by his side.

Jenni wrote; “We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support that we have received during this difficult time,” Izumi said in a statement. “Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years. He leaves behind a wife, many family members and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes and frequent banter.”

We respectfully request privacy for his family as they mourn their loved one.”

Jada also shared a photo of the late star – who was a beatboxer and producer too – and said: “Blessed many Smith Clan events with music, humor and laughter. He knew how to rock a party through and through and was always a supreme joy to be around.

“He was the sweetest. May he now rest in the arms of the Great Supreme. Rest in Love Biz. My condolences to his family, friends and all that love him.”
