Winston Churchill painting acquired by Angelina Jolie sells for £7m

A classic painting of Marrakesh, a city in the North African country of Morocco, acquired by Hollywood actress, Angelina Jolie has been auctioned and sold for the sum of £7m (€8.1m) in London.

The painting by former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill which auction house described as “Churchill’s most important work” reportedly beat expectations to sell for the princely sum of £7m.

According to reports, Churchill took inspiration from the Moroccan city and painted “The Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque” oil work during a World War II visit in 1943.
