Wizkid’s ‘Come Closer’ featuring Drake certified platinum in UK, gold in Australia

The year 2021 is turning out to be a fruitful one for Grammy Award winning artiste, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid as his 2017 track ‘Come Closer’ featuring Canadian-American rapper, Drake has been certified platinum in the UK and gold in Australia.

 

The feat by Wizkid was confirmed on Saturday by a tweet from Africa Facts Zone.

The tweet reads, “Wizkid’s Come Closer ft. Drake has gone Platinum (600,000 sales) in the UK and Gold (35,000 sales) in Australia.”

The development was also confirmed by Leandro Hidalgo, who is the mixing engineer for the song, after he took to his Instagram account to show off a plaque for the achievement.

 

This came a week after Wizkid’s album titled ‘Made In Lagos’ hit over 400 million streams across all known music streaming platforms.

On March 31, 2021, it was announced that the album released by Wizkid on October 30, 2020, to fanfare and celebration across the world had hit over 400 million streams across all platforms.

A breakdown of the number of streams on each of the relevant music streaming sites shows that the album had 124.19 million streams on Apple Music, 123.1 million streams on audiomack, 79.30 million streams on YouTube, 78.06 million streams on Spotify and 20.2 million streams on Boomplay.
