A police inspector of the Ojoto police station in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State was shot and killed by heavily armed gunmen who invaded the area on Thursday June 10.

An eyewitness said the hoodlums came in three Sienna vehicles, but were repelled by policemen on duty.

“We are in trouble in this state now.

“Nobody knows which way to follow anymore. The problems and tension being created in Anambra are too much for us to bear.”

The incident was confirmed by a senior police officer who spoke with Nation as he revealed that the inspector was shot and killed during an attempt by the gunmen to burn the police station.

“We lost one Inspector today again,” the senior police officer who also revealed that the attempt by the hoodlums was stiffly resisted said.

He also revealed that the state police commissioner Chris Owolabi was preparing to visit the attacked station.
