Tragedy struck along Akure-Idanre road in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State when no fewer than three members of a family were crushed to death by a truck.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesman for the Ondo Federal Road Safety Corps, Abiola Fadumo, who said irate okada riders and residents in the area who were miffed by the accident threatened to set the truck ablaze.
According to Fadumo who spoke during an interview with The Nation on Thursday, May 20, that the presence of heavily armed policemen helped to calm the situation
Reports say the deceased, all males, were said to be riding on a motorcycle when the truck rammed into them. They all died on the spot.
