Two men identified as Shehu Usman Seidu and Aliyu Suleiman Umar have both been sentenced to life in prison over the abduction of a lecturer of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
Seidu and Umar were arraigned on seven counts bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, conspiracy, and aiding and abetting after they were both arrested over the kidnap of the lecturer in 2019 on the Utelu-Owo Road and other victims.
The two men were sentenced by Justice Olusegun Odusola of Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure after they were found guilty of kidnapping, armed robbery, conspiracy, and aiding and abetting.
After the evaluation of the evidence as well as the confessional statements from the convicts about their various criminal activities, the court held that the prosecution counsel had been able to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
Thereafter, Justice Olusegun Odusola sentenced the two men to life imprisonment.
