The long arm of the law has caught up with a 65-years-old widower identified as Samuel Darisa, for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl at Agba dam area, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The suspect was arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, after he committed the crime in the State capital, where he was employed as a security guard.
Babawale Afolabi, the spokesperson for the command who paraded the suspect before journalists at the NSCDC headquarters in Ilorin on behalf of the state commandant, Isikilu Makinde, said that the suspect was arrested after a tip-off by a concerned neighbour who allegedly caught them in the act.
“The suspect confessed to have committed the crime. “He however stated that the minor consented to the affair since it was not only one time he had carnal knowledge of the minor,” Babawale said.
According to the NSCDC spokesman, the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of investigation into the crime he committed.
